It's no secret that the "market" has not been so kind to soul music as of late.  Particularly in the United States, you simply can't get airplay unless you follow a very specific, formulaic sound that has been pre-determined by that which is already selling well at the moment.  Record companies don't take chances anymore, and the idea of  "artist development" is a thing of the past.  For all intents and purposes, the major labels have left soul music to die...and the only reason it lives on at all is because of some very passionate artists who still make it, and some very passionate listeners who still seek it out, no matter how hard the major labels have made that task.  fullasoul.com is very passionate about keeping this art form alive by connecting those listeners with those artists. 

While we acknowledge and applaud the companies who have turned offering independent releases to the masses into a very lucrative venture for themselves, there is SO much more to be done.  True that these operations have given independent artists a place to sell their music, but they don't offer them much else.  The truth is, they can't...they are a BUSINESS, first and foremost.  With no passion for any particular genre of music (because that would substantially limit their opportunity to make more money), they simply add the artist's releases to their online catalog and let them fend for themselves.  Just how big of an "opportunity" is it really to have your CD put on a webpage next to a bunch of other artists that nobody's heard of?  How many people do you really think get up in the morning and say to themselves, "I wanna go buy some INDEPENDENT music today!"?

People don't go shopping specifically for independent music, they go shopping for GOOD music.  If your music is at least as good as what's out there (and we all have radios so we know what's "out there" isn't so good anymore), then why are THOSE releases sitting on store shelves next to major artists that everybody's heard of, and yours are sitting next to people nobody knows of?  fullasoul.com wants to offer you the opportunity to be sold right along side the major label artists.  We will use every resource available to us to raise awareness of your music.  The fullasoul.com Music Community, although in it's infancy at the time of this writing, is intended to unite people who have a love for this music, so that they may not only express themselves and their passion for soul music, but they may let others know about releases that perhaps they were not aware of.  This serves as an incredible asset to you, especially when your releases are readily available from right here at fullasoul.com.  We will incite discussion of your releases in the Community, we will offer links to your website, and offer other incentives for people to give YOUR disc a chance.  Unlike the companies who offer to sell your release alongside other unknown artists, fullasoul.com will not charge one flat per-disc fee for every artist that wants to be associated with us.  Instead, we will work on a case-by-case basis, so that each artist that comes to us can tell us what THEY do or don't want, and we can have the opportunity to hear what we're about to sell, allowing us to reach an arrangement that we're both satisfied with.
